Anchors Economic Independence (AEI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable economic development in Zambia and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. We work to create a robust and inclusive economic environment through advocacy, capacity building, and collaboration with stakeholders across the public and private sectors.
Governance:
- AEI's Board of Directors is appointed by stakeholders and is obligated to act in the best interests of the organization as a whole, pursuing objectives outlined in this profile.
- The Board and all other governing bodies of AEI are bound by stakeholder resolutions and agreements regarding the management of the organization.
Our Objectives
- Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies that foster a conducive environment for businesses to flourish and contribute to overall economic growth.
- Human Security: Promote initiatives that enhance individual security by supporting livelihoods and economic empowerment.
Good Governance: Champion high standards of transparency, accountability, and responsible business practices within organizations
Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster a spirit of cooperation among public and private entities, including ministries, departments, and civil society organizations, to achieve shared economic goals.
- Socio-Economic Development: Strengthen socio-economic institutions and facilitate the creation of innovative solutions that address public needs, such as environmental protection, healthcare, and improved living standards.
- Climate Change Action: Support initiatives that promote a cleaner environment and encourage participation in carbon reduction programs.
- Capacity Building: Enhance the economic capacity of organizations and individuals for sustainable development by delivering training and resources.
- Self-Regulation: Encourage self-regulation within economic sectors and advocate for market research to drive business expansion and provide a stable foundation for the economy.

Our Story
We think local leadership is the first step toward sustainable economic development. Because of this, we have established a community-led organization whose mission is to provide women and children in Zambia’s urban and rural areas with more access to Economic empowerment, education and other resources that might change their lives, thereby promoting their economic and personal development.
We can raise healthier children and, eventually, individuals with better economic prospects when we lower the obstacles to education-based access to finance and economic opportunities for women and youth. The cornerstone of our engaging programs is this conviction. In order to empower the people of Zambian urban and rural communities as they grow into the next generation of leaders in South Africa and beyond, Anchors for Economic Development (AEI) offers a variety of programs, including primary, secondary, adult education, after-school, creative arts, and medical outreach services.
